Being able to prepare nourishing food for yourself is an essential skill for anyone wanting to lead a more independent way of life. These online learning materials may be of help to you if you are trying to improve your Lifeskills.

The materials look at buying food, preparing it, food hygiene, and safety in the kitchen.


How to use these learning materials

The materials are divided up into several sections.

  • You can work your way through the sections one at a time, or

  • if you just want to focus on one of these areas, select the topic that
    interests you from the list below.

  • If you have a recipe of your own that you'd like to share
    then post it to the CGtell interactive recipe book.

    This section looks at shopping for food and offers some tips which may help you to make informed choices.

  2. Food Hygiene
    This section looks at the hygiene precautions you need to take when in the kitchen.
    It includes materials on how to store food safely and how to prepare food hygienically.

  3. Safety in the Kitchen
    This section looks at how to make your kitchen a safer place. You can guard against the risks posed by sharp implements, high temperatures, fire risks, electrical and other hazards.
